The convection permitting ICON-IT model is integrated over the Italian area with a 2.2 km grid spacing and 65 vertical levels, using the high-resolution LETKF control analysis as initial state and IFS forecast fields as lateral boundary conditions. The main features of the operational implementation of the ICON-IT model are summarized in the following table:
